It has taken us nearly ten years to “discover,” collect, analyze and compare all these wonderful second half stories—first in the movies, and then in literature as well. They have already changed how thousands of us experience aging, and that’s why we are so eager to introduce and share them with you. The Rest of the Story, Part Two, Novels (Available Fall 2008)

The second part of our literature and film listing The Rest of the Story, this comprehensive list of novels, poems, and plays, each with its own commentary and specifications, currently features more than 150 novels. Like Part One, it will cost $10. The explosion of novels on life’s second half is more recent than the explosion of films, but lately it has definitely begun to pick up pace. And once again, no one else seems to have noticed.

Chuck Nicholas is currently at work on a book tentatively entitled Second Half Stories: Movies, Novels and the Transformation of Life’s Second Half.

Directed to boomers as well as those who have already entered and are beginning to understand how the face of aging is changing so dramatically, the book will contain extended descriptions of the best of these hundreds of movies and novels as well as suggestions for viewing them in movie or book clubs, individually at home, or in formal or informal gatherings and classes.

It should be ready sometime in 2009 and will be for sale here and elsewhere around the country.
